Sharon A. Davis was sworn in as Durham County register of deeds during the board’s organizational meeting. Chief District Court Judge Clayton Jones administered the oath, and Davis said she was honored to serve into a third term and praised her deputies and office staff.
Davis thanked those who supported her campaign and said she would continue her duties "for the county of Durham" in accord with law. "It is always a pleasure to be here before the citizens of Durham for this 1 occasion every 4 years," Davis said, adding that she appreciates her staff and will continue to do her best in office.
The oath was administered after the board dispensed with a ceremonial acknowledgement of election certificates, which County Attorney Larissa Williamson said had been mailed directly to candidates.
