Boards approve Woodstock Village Conservancy plan to replace four downtown trees

The project would include digging out previous stumps, adding engineered soil, installing the trees and then repouring concrete slabs with grates to allow water access and protect the trees.
Members discussed timing — fall versus spring planting — and potential effects on sidewalks and roots. DPW staff said they would be involved in planning and confirmed "dig-safe" procedures would be followed to avoid conflicts with utilities. The boards approved the Conservancy's plan and asked the group to return with finalized fundraising language and details for staff approval before public fundraising.
Next steps: the Conservancy will continue design and fundraising and return to the boards for final sign-off prior to public solicitation.
