Council members asked explicitly whether subcommittees are tracking current affordable inventory and pipeline units and how to connect people to units that already exist or are under development. Staff said community development is tracking existing units, Duke has aggregated publicly held land for analysis, and the chairs will meet weekly to identify gaps for further study. The task force recommended using two joint sessions with the school board to coordinate on budget and infrastructure issues that overlap city, county and school responsibilities.
The update was informational; there was no action taken and staff said they will return with any proposals that depend on the assessment results.
