Chair urges civil public discourse, recognizes long-time employee Kimmy Jackson

During the mayor's comment period the chair said multiple people told city staff they are afraid to testify because of harassment and personal attacks, and he described that some opponents of code changes who warn about preserving the city's character have engaged in the very attacks they criticize. "I find it ironic and troubling that some who argue that the code changes will change the character of the city are doing exactly that with these attacks," he said, and he urged residents to maintain civil discourse.

The council also formally recognized Kimmy Jackson, who is retiring after 15 years of service to the city. The chair thanked Jackson for her contributions, noted her availability to provide notary services and catering as needed, and reflected on her long service to City Hall.
