Planning commission backs staff recommendation for permanent zoning in Sienna Management District

Staff presented a recommendation and final report on permanent zoning for roughly 57 acres within the Sienna Management District annexed in December. Staff said the recommendation expands allowed uses (including cleaning/pressing laundries, indoor recreation, veteran veterinary clinics, massage establishments, furniture showrooms and outpatient medical care), broadens language for professional offices, and proposes enhanced architectural standards for gateway corner tracts.
Staff also proposed limiting where parking can be located on sites — keeping parking to sides or the rear of the primary building and allowing no more than a single row of parking between the primary building and the Parkway for specified tracts — and tying one tract into existing cross‑access. Commissioners asked how the standards will be codified and staff replied a draft ordinance will be attached to the council item. A motion for a positive recommendation to approve the staff report carried and will be forwarded to city council.
