Doug Krillin, president of the Tennessee Association of Air Carrier Airports and Nashville International Airport, and April Cameron, president of the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Authority, briefed the committee on priorities and the governor's proposed $125 million airport investment in FY2727. Krillin said the five commercial airports commissioned an economic-impact update showing growth from about $19.5 billion to $28 billion in annual impact and that airport-generated state taxes have risen to about $1.1 billion.
The airports outlined planned uses for a portion of the state request: Chattanooga for a 1,600-space parking garage; Memphis for terminal modernization and seismic work; Tri Cities for an aerospace park; McGhee Tyson for landside development and roads; and Nashville for a replacement Concourse A. Krillin said the new Concourse A will have 16 gates and is estimated to cost approximately $855,000,000, with the state contributing around $40 million toward that project; he said the work will allow Nashville to grow from about 26 million to 40 million annual passengers and that the Concourse A opening is scheduled for 07/11/2028.
