The board received an updated Measure HV project prioritization and timeline from bond consultant Alan Riesling. Riesling said bond proceeds will arrive over multiple series and walked the board through a phased execution plan.
Riesling said the district expects an $8,000,000 bond issuance in 2025, about $10,000,000 in 2027 and $10,700,000 in 2029 and presented a prioritization that focused early work at Hermosa Valley (playground renovations, removal of outdated portables, flexible science/performing arts classroom considerations), suggested space reconfigurations at Hermosa Vista and Hermosa View for special education and staffing needs, and included technology audits and energy-efficiency projects across the district.
Board members asked for clarification on what ‘‘flexible science space’’ would mean in practice and emphasized the desire to design spaces that can adapt to changing pedagogy and possible career technical education use. Staff framed the phased plan as a strategy to be least disruptive to current school operations while maximizing student benefit and to avoid raising taxes.
After discussion the board approved the revised prioritization list for Measure HV projects. Staff said the district will continue community outreach, solicit architectural and construction management firms, and bring firm selections to the board for approval before construction bids are awarded.
