Building Department reports permits, new businesses, signage issues and special-use hearings

Building Department staff reported that Zoning Board-approved plans and a Special Use Permit allowed construction drawings for 7‑11 and Sunoco and that a building permit has been issued. The department also recorded receipt of Verizon’s resubmission (public hearing scheduled Jan. 6, 2025). Staff noted an owner (Nutty Irishman & 317) needs a second dumpster guard and container and that a National Grid grant for street trees and planter boxes (~$10,000) has been submitted and is pending.
Additional reported items: three Toretta Estates building applications are awaiting Planning Board comments; Mike’s Barber Shop has completed work; signage issues at the Bodega on Conklin St. are being remedied; 217 Main Street is proposed to be renamed L.I. McGrath’s (temporary certificate of occupancy issued Nov. 14) with a Special Use Permit hearing to be scheduled for Dec. 2; Pour Authority lease executed and an application anticipated for adjacent space; and Enterprise Rental Car location is under construction.
