Board OKs stop-sign additions after 4–1 vote; contracts awarded for traffic signals and loops

Resolution #2025-10-19 added stop signs at Lafayette Road & Jefferson Road (southbound) and Park Avenue & Jefferson Road (southbound). The minutes record the vote as Mayor Ralph Ekstrand voting nay and Deputy Mayor William Barrett, Trustee Cheryl Parisi, Trustee Walter Priestley and Trustee Craig Rosasco voting aye.
Separately, the Board approved Resolution #2025-10-20 naming Hinck Electrical Contractors, Inc. to install two traffic lights (lights supplied by the Village) for Farmingdale Fire Department use on Main Street under the Town of Brookhaven Traffic Signal Maintenance & Construction Contract at a cost of $7,096.88. The Board also approved Resolution #2025-10-21 to have Hinck install traffic loops at three locations (Staples St at Conklin St; Powell Pl at Melville Rd; Powell Pl at Main St) at a cost of $7,285.00 under the same Town of Brookhaven contract.
Trustees asked staff to evaluate lighting at the Melville Road/Secatogue Avenue intersection and to check timing/schedules for fire-department traffic lights. These items were treated as operational priorities for DPW and public-safety coordination with the Town of Brookhaven.
