NECA Academy asks council for transparency, cites NRS 388.252 and requests deferment

Speaking on behalf of NECA Academy, Amy Sparrow said the group intended to comment earlier but missed the opening public forum and that they have three concerns: (1) whether the city supports school choice, (2) a request for deferment based on alleged noncompliance with NRS 388.252 because the academy had only 11 days to respond when statute provides 30 days, and (3) a request for notification explaining the reasons their application is recommended for denial. "We respectfully request a collaboration meeting to improve this application process," Sparrow said.
Sparrow asked the council for transparency and an opportunity to address discrepancies. The council did not take action on the application during public comment; staff follow-up or a formal request for deferment was not recorded in the meeting minutes and remains "not specified."
