Members asked what contingency planning the Clark County School District and the new superintendent have in place; Barone said the district has a new CFO and leadership team reviewing options and that they are “kicking all the tires” to see where funding fits.
The committee also discussed trustee representation: Barone said appointed trustees currently lack a full vote but that he expects appointed trustees to have an equal vote beginning in June 2027. Members raised questions about transiency, MTSS follow‑through for students who move between schools, and whether additional funds could target disproportionately affected students. The committee asked staff to synthesize questions for the superintendent and board liaison to pursue follow‑up with district leadership; no formal action was taken at the meeting.
