Parks and events staff told the committee Clock Tower Landing in Downtown Evelyn Park will open for the Wednesday market this Saturday and the city will hold a ribbon cutting event Friday evening from 5:30 to 7 p.m., with remarks at 6 p.m. Parks staff invited the public to tour the new space and thanked vendors and staff for completing final punch‑list items including lighting.
Bridal Tobin, Parks & Recreation director, said the city is looking forward to the site’s role in community gathering. “So Saturday will be our first day, in the new gathering place in Downtown Evelyn Park, aptly named Clock Tower Landing,” Tobin said.
Assistant manager Kate Unger briefed the committee on a sequence of FIFA/World Cup–related events planned in Overland Park and neighboring venues, and on multiple short‑term transit services aimed at easing visitor travel. She listed six events between June 16 and July 19 and said registration links and transit information are posted on the city website and available via the Transit app. Unger also noted the county’s airport drop‑and‑ride and a June 9 bike‑share ribbon cutting at the Overland Park Convention Center.
Staff said the transit and bike‑share pilots will be monitored for possible continuation after the summer events and encouraged residents to register for free community events.
