The City Council on Aug. 6 approved two items that will allow Delta Academy to expand its existing campus: a comprehensive master plan amendment (AMP 042025) and a zoning reclassification (ZN06-2025 / Ordinance 3250) to change about 2.21 acres from M-2 (General Industrial) to PSP (Public/Semi-Public).
Lexa Green, speaking for the applicant, said the expansion will add facilities and amenities for the school's current student population and that staff recommended approval. "They're currently working through civil plans and submitting, and so their anticipated date for grading permits is mid-October," Green told the council, adding that construction would be done in phases and include drop-off and pickup plans to safeguard students during work.
Council members expressed support for the expansion and emphasized education options for students with unique learning needs. Motions to approve the master plan amendment and the zoning ordinance were made and recorded as passed in the meeting; the transcript does not include roll-call tallies. The zoning ordinance adoption allows the school to move forward with civil-plan processing and phased construction.
