The Durham County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously after a closed session to appoint the interim county manager to the permanent county manager position effective immediately. Chair announced the vote following the closed-session motion and said the swearing-in will occur next Monday.
County Manager Hager, who addressed the board after the motion, thanked commissioners and Durham County staff for their support, saying she was “honored and humbled” and that she appreciated the opportunity to “serve and lead” the county. Commissioners made the appointment by motion (moved on the floor and seconded) and recorded aye votes with no oppositions. The board also moved to seal the minutes of the closed session per standard personnel-procedure practice.
The action followed the closed-session statutory authority cited at the start of the meeting. Commissioners said they would reserve additional public remarks until the next regular meeting and noted plans to complete the formal swearing-in next week.
