Hager also reported a merger of Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (VIA and Partners) that is expected to take effect in October 2026 and to create the largest MCO in western North Carolina.
He said discussions continue about policies requiring state parks to contribute to emergency service fees, that fraud by therapy companies has drawn state attention and additional funding for autism services, and that indictments of lobbyists and a congressman could lead to downstream political appointments affecting local representation.
