The Finance, Administration and Economic Development Committee on May 20 recommended that the City Council approve an agreement with Peckham Guyton Albers & Dean Inc. to lead Phase 1 design work for the city hall conversion at 6201 College Boulevard. Tony Rome, the staff presenter, said Phase 1 will cover public engagement, stakeholder coordination, visioning and an exhaustive MEP analysis to identify infrastructure needs for eventual occupancy.
Rome told the committee the Phase 1 fee is $988,975 and that the city has not chosen a final construction‑delivery method; it will not be a design–build contract at this stage. A committee member moved the recommendation and it passed unanimously. "We did purchase the building at 6201 College Boulevard last year," Rome said as he summarized the selection timeline and scope. The committee also instructed staff to continue negotiating project details and to return with a project plan and redevelopment agreement where applicable.
