The committee reviewed the West End Nursery project: an initial plan for roughly 250 pots laid out at 5-foot spacing, including deeper pots for taproot species such as chestnut, pawpaw and persimmon and a planned order of 50 sequoias.
Chair described the operational plan: holes were drilled for pots, about half the plot was filled so far and the group will order sequoias timed to arrive when the committee can plant quickly. "We have to order the sequoias...we've got to order them at a time when they're going to show up when we can get them in the ground pretty quick," the Chair said.
Members discussed post-plant irrigation using water buckets previously used on other projects and confirmed they will count existing buckets and determine whether to procure more; a weekly bucket-fill by the water truck was the proposed watering schedule.
