Clarksville names Tammy Hayden to Arts Commission; police recognize peer support volunteers and officers of the year

The council approved appointments to the Arts Commission and paused briefly for recognitions.
Council President reported a vacancy carried from last year and said Arts Commission Chair Corey Hain recommended Tammy Hayden (owner, Thrive Florist). Councilwoman Henderson moved to appoint Hayden and the motion carried unanimously. The council president also said two additional appointments would be made (Kayla Tagenhorst from Parks and the council president) to fill remaining vacancies.
Chief Nate Walls invited representatives from the department to the podium and recognized the department's new peer support program. Joni Martin, who had assisted in developing peer support services, addressed the council and thanked volunteers involved in launching the program. The chief also announced awards: Reserve Officer of the Year — Nathaniel Wheeler; Detective of the Year — Jeff Kennedy; Officer of the Year — Britney Rotor, and highlighted their service and particular circumstances, including canine transitions for the K9 handler.
