Staff told the board that Tricia Heffelfinger resigned and that the county will start public communications to recruit volunteers for her open seat and other seats whose terms are expiring.
"So, miss Heffelfinger resigned from the board, and we're getting ready to start public communications calling for volunteers," an economic development staff member said. Staff said two seats expire in October and one in February; they proposed asking the Board of County Commissioners to align expirations so the board cycles at the same time. The board later moved and approved a formal recommendation to ask the County Commission to extend two October expirations to February and to allow rotating-off members to reapply immediately.
Staff said applications received previously would be reviewed for a potential appointment to fill the vacant seat before February. The board agreed staff would publicize openings on the county website and through social media when the news release is ready.
