The council voted to authorize the city manager to negotiate and execute an agreement for architectural design services with Burdette Consultants LLC for the Seaborn Creek Regional Sports Complex baseball-field Phase 2 project.
Rigo, presenting staff recommendations, said Burdette's proposal is included in the FY26 capital improvement plan and RDC budget and that the firm has experience with similar projects. Rigo said Burdette "has submitted a proposal in the amount of 180,715 for the provision of architectural design services." He clarified staff is seeking funds to produce plans for one 210-foot ball field and pedestrian walkways; survey and topo will cover the entire section so a second field could later be added if funding becomes available.
Councilmembers asked whether it would be cheaper to create designs for two fields now; staff said the contract is for one field but that duplicating the design later could be more efficient once the first field base is done. The council moved, seconded and approved Resolution R-4014 to proceed with design services and to return with contract details at award.
