Rosenberg honors holiday yard winners as GFL donates $10,000 to beautification program

Mayor opened the Dec. 17 council meeting by presenting the city's annual holiday yard and image awards, recognizing multiple honorable mentions and first-to-third place winners and inviting recipients forward for photos. Winners included Carlos Cortez, Ricardo De Leon, Christopher Rodriguez and the Castillo family, who received the $300 first-place prize.
The mayor also announced a $10,000 donation from GFL Environmental to support the city's Keep Rosenberg Beautiful program and invited company representatives to sign a ceremonial check. "GFL Environmental as part of Keep Rosenberg Beautiful program," the mayor said while introducing the presentation. Staff confirmed the gift and asked recipients and council to sign the ceremonial materials.
The presentation was followed by brief announcements about holiday closures and adjusted trash pickup schedules. City officials asked residents to note that city facilities would be closed Dec. 24-25 and that trash pickup would be deferred around the Christmas and New Year holidays.
