Staff briefed council on a CID-initiated Peachtree Boulevard realignment project that includes a pedestrian bridge and substantial engineering and right-of-way work. The concept is moving toward the design phase; with rising project costs the CID requested allocations from both cities for the pedestrian-bridge design component.
Staff presented Chamblee's proposed share: "It would be a total of $46,800 for Chamblee's portion," and said Doraville has already approved its portion. Council members expressed support for partnering on the long-standing project and asked representatives to provide further details as the concept approaches the design phase.
Staff noted the pedestrian-bridge component is a priority for both Doraville and Chamblee and that final design costs remain subject to engineering and right-of-way work.
