City Manager Holly Phelps told the Lewistown City Commission on Dec. 15 that a sewer ordinance includes scheduled, incremental rate increases that take effect in January and will appear on customer bills beginning in February.
Phelps outlined the changes: "Residential Base Rate Charge will increase from $19.75 to $20.00 per EDU; Commercial Base Rate Charge will increase from $21.75 to $22.00 EDU; and Sewer Use Charges will increase from $8.50 per 1,000 gallons of water used to $8.75 per 1000 gallons on water used." She said the ordinance phases in increases over the next two years per the schedule included in the meeting packet.
The manager also reminded residents of winter service information, including permitted New Year’s Eve fireworks hours and recent snow events that prompted outreach on new snow-route regulations. The Commission did not take a separate vote on the ordinance at this meeting; Phelps presented it as part of the City Manager report.
