Lewistown awards $55,000 emergency sewer repair contract to Griffith Construction

The Lewistown City Commission on Dec. 15 approved awarding an emergency sewer line replacement contract to Griffith Construction for $55,000 to repair roughly a half‑block of sewer main near the Civic Center.
City Manager Holly Phelps told commissioners public works discovered "extreme infiltration" in the line and crews were unable to camera or clear the section to determine the cause. Staff solicited bids from VH Contracting, Griffith Construction and Do All Contracting; Griffith Construction was the only firm to submit a bid. Phelps said the city consulted engineers, who judged the $55,000 bid to be reasonable for the scope.
Commissioner Terry moved to award the contract and Commissioner Buehler seconded. After a roll-call vote with no recorded objections, the motion passed and staff may proceed with the emergency replacement work.
