Porter named vice chair; commissioners fill BZA rep and urge public to apply for vacancies

Chair Paugh called for nominations; Porter was nominated and commissioners voted aye. Commissioners also encouraged residents to apply to fill two vacancies on the commission and two on the BZA, and staff pointed listeners to the city's online application page (harrisonburgva.gov/boards).
The chair noted the BZA role can involve some statutory paperwork and occasional activity; Commissioner Porter acknowledged the added responsibilities and accepted the assignment. The commission reiterated that people interested in serving should contact the city manager's office or the zoning administrator for information.
