Avon council approves three Neighborhood Assistance Act program submissions

Laura Marchese, Executive Director of Gifts of Love, described rising client need and shrinking donations, telling the Council a waiting list began in April and citing an example of sharply increased supply costs: "the cost to buy jelly jars for 350 backpacks has gone from under $100 to over $1,000." After discussion, the Council voted to forward program submissions for the Nutmeg Symphony Orchestra ($64,460), Gifts of Love ($20,000) and the Avon Volunteer Fire Department ($12,500).
