Avon recommends $200,000 for pavement management and approves other road appropriations

On April 3 the Avon Town Council voted to recommend to the Board of Finance an appropriation of up to $200,000 from Assigned Fund Balance for the Pavement Management Program to allow Public Works to begin road work before July 1. The council said the timing helps the department start paving as soon as plants reopen.
Council also recommended that the Board of Finance record LoCIP revenue and appropriate $57,932.18 to a capital facilities account, and approved a Town Aid Road Fund appropriation recommendation of $102,993.04 for additional road overlay work. All three motions passed unanimously. Councilors said these actions align with previously approved funding decisions and would enable earlier procurement and scheduling for road surface improvements.
