Avon assessor warns revaluing 14,500 vehicles will be administratively intensive

Harry DerAsadourian, Avon's town assessor, told the council that implementing the adopted local option will require substantial staff work and a tight schedule to republish the revised Grand List by April 15.
"If Council approves this, Town staff would have to revalue approximately 14,500 cars and repost them on the tax side along with the adjustments that have been made," DerAsadourian said, noting the town has about 16,000 vehicle registrations. He warned that condensing the work "ruts the risk for error" but said the work would be completed if the council adopted the change. The council thanked staff and acknowledged the implementation challenge in voting to proceed.
