Harrisonburg schools honor dual-language leader, athletic staff and programs

Superintendent Dr. Richards opened the recognitions portion of the Sept. 2 meeting by naming several staff members and programs for recent honors. He introduced Dr. Jeremy Aldridge and said Aldridge helped found a statewide Virginia Dual Language Educators Network and was chosen as that group's inaugural leadership award recipient.
Dr. Richards also recognized Dr. Missy Hensley for selection to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's inaugural Hall of Fame and highlighted Rocktown High School's athletics program receiving a 2025 National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association quality-program recognition at the exemplary level. Jonathan Middleton, Rocktown's athletics director, and Ciara Seville, the athletic trainer, were invited forward and thanked for their work.
Board members and the superintendent framed the recognitions as praise for sustained staff efforts that support students districtwide. The items were presented as non-action information and received no formal motion; board members returned the meeting to the regular agenda after the acknowledgments.
