City Manager Michael Johnson said a boat has occupied a Cleveland Avenue property for about eight years and that staff sent the owner a 15‑day notice declaring the vessel unsightly and subject to removal. "He has 15 days to remove it or we'll remove it for him," Johnson said; the city plans to lien the property in August for removal and related costs if necessary.
Mr. Johnson also recounted a meeting with mall stakeholders who requested city assistance to pave a ring road near the mall. Johnson said the city will not spend public funds to pave private property and suggested stakeholders consider cost sharing or forming a special improvement district to fund maintenance.
