Councilors and staff discussed confusion over recently received batting cages for parks: boxes and three rolls of turf arrived, but staff had no manufacturer or installation information. "We don’t know who the manufacturer is," Mayor's staff said; staff later told council the retailer provided instructions after being contacted but vendor would not provide concrete pad dimensions and does not install.
City Manager Michael Johnson said he will meet with members of the Steubenville Baseball Association to identify models and to determine whether volunteer help or in‑house crews can prepare concrete pads to save money. Councilor Mayo and others urged staff to obtain model numbers and vendor documentation before proceeding. The Parks & Rec director is tentatively starting in late April and staff expect to coordinate installation plans once specifications are confirmed.
Provenance: Discussion in administrative reports and parks agenda items.
