The Calumet County Planning, Zoning & Farmland Preservation Committee on Feb. 12 recommended that the County Board approve a map amendment that would rezone roughly 2.33 acres at W2481 Schmidt Road from Exclusive Agricultural (EA) to Agricultural Residential (A‑R). The change would allow applicant Keith Finch to operate a home‑occupation business that staff said is not permitted under the existing zoning. Motion by Budde, seconded by Kesler, to forward the recommendation to the County Board carried unanimously.
Staff member Meuer told the committee that the rezoning is consistent with both the County’s Comprehensive Plan and the Farmland Preservation Plan and that the Town of Brillion supports the proposal conditioned on Finch obtaining required federal, state and local licenses. The committee’s action was a recommendation only; final approval rests with the Calumet County Board.
