Director reports $10,000 Carnegie grant expected; painter quotes and door repair underway

The director told trustees the Carnegie Corporation of New York is expected to distribute $10,000 grants to Carnegie libraries as part of the nation's 250th anniversary program and discussed potential uses such as new carpeting, painting, technology or maker-space equipment. "We're supposed to be receiving those checks soon, like, end of sometime January, February time frame," she said.
She also said she had contacted local painter Jason Uphoff (Journey Painting) for quotes and that he took measurements and will provide estimates for upstairs/downstairs or combined work. The director reported that local patron and builder Greg Holberg inspected and temporarily repaired a south-door latch problem, and will reorder parts and help with future repairs; she said the library will pay for parts. The board asked staff to obtain comparable bids and to report costs at budget time.
