Local Eagle Scout installs four bat houses in city parks

At the start of the Jan. 5 meeting a local Eagle Scout described completing an Eagle Scout service project that placed four bat houses around city recreation areas. The scout gave an address (1404 Bitter Road) and said the houses are sited "behind the field bay," "across the river" and along trail paths.
Council members congratulated the scout and discussed maintenance. One council member asked whether Clarence would take over maintenance; another council member replied there is "pretty much no maintenance" required and said the houses are secured. The council thanked the scout for the contribution to local wildlife habitat and outdoor education.
