Council approves wine and cider license for Tashi's Yarn Bar

The Dell Rapids City Council on Jan. 5 approved Resolution 2026-3 to grant a retail on- and off-sale wine and cider license to Tashi's Yarn Bar at 424 East 4th Street.
Staff introduced the measure and said fees and required insurance had been provided; the resolution "will allow the finance officer and the Mayor to enter into a 1 year operating agreement and approve the wine license," staff told the council. Applicant Natasha Berg told the council she plans a grand opening on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. and that the shop will put "an emphasis on local Midwest wines," noting she is working with Okoboji Wines as a distributor. Council moved and seconded the resolution; the motion carried by voice vote.
The license is effective upon approval by the South Dakota Department of Revenue, staff said, and annual license insurance will be renewed each year. Council members asked about specialty offerings and the cost of the license; a council member noted the annual fee is $500. The council did not attach conditions beyond the usual Department of Revenue approvals.
