The Dell Rapids Library Board approved recommended updates to its collection development policy that incorporate state‑library guidance.
The library director said the updates add sections on copyright, require that acquisition requests come from residents (the policy now names Minnehaha and Moody counties as covered jurisdictions), and more clearly spell out the "court of competent jurisdiction" to be used if a patron pursues a formal material removal request. The director said the edits came from state guidance and that the director and city staff had reviewed the language.
A motion to approve the collection development policy updates was moved, seconded and passed by voice vote.
