Council members emphasized school access and safety: Council Member Michelle Patton noted the site's proximity to Avon High School and the Early Learning Center, suggesting labeled trees, outdoor seating for classes and pedestrian-safety analysis. Mr. Mears agreed educational elements and safe pedestrian pathways would be incorporated into the design and noted the existing bridge repairs would be included in the overall plan.
The ordinance is scheduled for further readings on Feb. 23; Mr. Mears and staff targeted completing initial analysis and conceptual designs by the end of March to inform next steps.
