The Arcadia Unified Board on Feb. 10 heard an annual update from the Measure I and Measure AS Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee and adopted its report by motion.
Paul Engel, committee chair, summarized the history of Measure I (approved in November 2006 for $218 million) and said recent work included main playground and shade‑structure installations at multiple elementary campuses. Engel said the district is allocating remaining Measure I funds toward "a district wide solar installation project" that will put arrays at every school site with expected multi‑decade utility savings.
Engel also reviewed the Arcadia High School locker‑room modernization: Phase 1 established interim facilities and the controlled demolition of the original locker room interior is complete; necessary abatement followed to prepare the site for new construction. He told the board projects are progressing and that the committee meets regularly to ensure priorities align with the board's two‑tier scopes of work.
The board approved the bond oversight annual reports by voice vote and thanked the committee for its oversight work.
