Auditor gives Arcadia Unified a clean opinion but flags two compliance findings

Jeff Nigro, partner at Nigro & Nigro, presented the district's fiscal year 2024–25 audit to the board and characterized it as "very positive," giving an unmodified (clean) opinion on the financial statements.
Nigro told trustees that the auditors perform wide compliance testing and had two findings for 2024–25: a federal Title I reporting issue described as a minor reporting matter with no financial consequence, and a state compliance finding in the ELOP (Extended and Expanded Learning Opportunities Program) related to providing transportation during intersessions that carried a small financial impact. "There was one federal compliance finding on Title 1… and then there was one finding in State compliance over the ELOP program having to do with providing transportation to students, during intercessions," Nigro said.
The board moved to accept and adopt the audit report; the motion carried unanimously after a roll call. Board members thanked the district finance staff for their cooperation during the yearlong audit process and noted the increased compliance emphasis auditors now apply to state and federal programs. The board did not amend the audit and accepted the auditor's recommendations for corrective action.
