Arcadia posts gains on 2025 California School Dashboard; chronic absenteeism falls

District officials say Arcadia has five of seven indicators at the highest performance level on the 2025 California Dashboard and reported chronic absenteeism falling from 6.5% to 3.7%, a change staff attributed in part to absence-recovery pilots and new practices.
District data staff presented the newly released 2025 California School Dashboard to trustees and highlighted measurable gains: five of seven indicators now show the highest possible rating and the new science indicator appears as informational data this year.
"So now we have 5 of the 7 indicators that are showing very high progress," Dr. Mendoza said while reviewing the report, noting gains in the college and career and English language arts indicators. Trustees and staff discussed that chronic absenteeism moved from about 6.5% to roughly 3.7% year over year; staff credited multiple efforts, including an absence-recovery pilot and targeted site interventions, for contributing to the drop. Dr. Mendoza also noted a growth-model release planned for December that will add context to year-to-year comparisons.
The dashboard presentation also flagged subgroup performance and new LTEL reporting that the district will monitor; staff said some district-level figures (for example reclassification rates) are affected by a growing English-learner denominator even where absolute reclassification counts are high.
