District reports progress on Measure AS projects, solar carports and $1M projected energy offsets

Executive Director Tony Barrios updated the board on Measure AS construction and facilities projects, reporting recent progress on solar carports, roofing, HVAC ductwork and site improvements.
Barrios showed photos and described work at Longley Way and Camino Grove where crews installed footings, rebar cages and “cassettes” for solar canopies. He told the board the district is on track to meet an April 2026 permission-to-operate date tied to the NEM 2.0 interconnection deadline. “So, but, you know, Longle Way, the Camino Grows, we're able to maximize and get it just right… it's gonna be about 1000000 dollars in savings or offset costs, once we're all said and done,” Barrios said. He also described ongoing work at Arcadia High — roofing repairs, air-conditioning duct installation, and interior framing — and smaller site items such as a retaining/planter wall at Highland Oaks kindergarten with drought-tolerant plantings.
Board members asked about parking impacts during construction and plant selection for kindergarten planting areas; Barrios said temporary parking loss is minimal and that maintenance coordinates plant choices to avoid hazardous species near kindergarten play areas. The district noted project photos and schedules are posted on its website.
