The Arcadia Unified School District Board of Education voted to designate November 2025 as National Native American Heritage Month by adopting Resolution No. 252615.
Board member Chung read the resolution on behalf of the board, which cites Public Law 101-343 and recognizes local relationships, including Arcadia High School’s ties to the White Mountain Apache community and references to the Tongva people of the San Gabriel Valley. “Resolution number 252615, national native American heritage month, November 2025,” Chung said while reading the measure to the board. Mrs. Vargo moved to approve the resolution and Mr. Eng seconded the motion; the chair called for “aye” and the motion carried.
The resolution text the board read encourages schools to highlight storytelling and the histories of native and indigenous communities as part of November programming. Board members did not discuss amendments and the item was approved on the motion made at the meeting. The district indicated the resolution will guide outreach and programming for November 2025.
