'Beach Guardians' program and local recreation updates announced

David Lys told the committee the Town will pilot a 'Beach Guardians' program to teach adults to swim in the ocean at Ditch and Atlantic Avenue beaches, with sessions Saturdays and Sundays from 9 to 10 a.m. He also recognized R. Cortell for advocacy that led to a pickleball ribbon cutting in Wainscott.
Committee members noted the Playhouse now has staff on site and that Hampton Jazz (Latin jazz) will perform Aug. 8. Lys did not present formal budget figures for the Recreation offerings during the update and members asked for additional program details at a future meeting.
