"I have kept, a little, like, 66,200 in fund reserve savings," Chair (speaker 2) told the council, describing an earmark for a potential street construction project. Council members pressed staff for numbers: one council member said restoring the original admin payroll would require about $49,525 from savings. Another council member urged caution about repeatedly using carryover, while several others said a one-year use for a planner or to maintain service levels could be justified if the FY28 outlook improved. The meeting concluded with direction to refine numbers and take a public hearing on the budget on Aug. 4, followed by final adoption Aug. 24.
