Council approves easement cleanup for Merritt Road development; new sewer alignment already installed

The council voted to adopt an ordinance vacating and abandoning a variable-width sanitary sewer easement at 9849 Merritt Road to reflect a completed design change for the JPI Merritt Park multifamily project.
Community Development Director Derek Hull explained the original easement alignment was shifted south as part of the developer's final design; a new permanent sanitary-sewer easement has been recorded and the 8-inch sanitary sewer main has been constructed on the new alignment. A representative for the developer explained the off-site sewer easement was rededicated to accommodate the building footprint and that the installation is complete.
Council approved the ordinance to "clean up what has already occurred" and to remove the prior incorrect easement record. The vote carried unanimously.
