Rowlett announces Kids' Kingdom reopening, Rowlett on Ice schedule and a Dec. 21 pet-adoption photo event

City community-development staff outlined a slate of seasonal and near-term offerings for Rowlett residents.
Mr. Britton highlighted phase 2 of Kids' Kingdom (artificial turf, new net climber, giant slide, swings and shaded areas) and said the reopening celebration is set for Dec. 20. He also announced Rowlett on Ice will run through Feb. 7 with weekday and weekend hours, transitioning to Fri–Sun-only service beginning Jan. 5, and reminded residents that Arts & Humanities grant applications are due Jan. 16, 2026.
Animal-services staff promoted an adoptable dog named Lizzie and asked the public to consider weekend fostering; staff announced a free microchip clinic sponsored by Friends of Rescued Animals and provided shelter contact details at 4402 Industrial Street and (972) 412-6219. "If you think Lizzie may be the perfect match... please come meet her," shelter staff said.
