Sevier County Board recognizes students, staff and schools for statewide honors

The Sevier County Board of Education opened its regular meeting on Feb. 9 by honoring a range of student and staff achievements across the district. The board recognized School Board Appreciation Week (Jan. 25–31) and National School Counseling Week (Feb. 2–6), and congratulated Sevier County High School and Seymour High School for receiving the Governor’s Civics Seal designation.
Board members highlighted individual student accomplishments in academics, bands and athletics: Gatlinburg-Pittman and Sevier County High School students were named to All-State East ensembles; Northview Academy students Dakota Haehn, Deanna Thompson and Brady Crass earned State FFA Degrees; and several athletes qualified for state tournaments or earned All‑State honors. The meeting minutes also noted milestones including a coach’s 300th career win and a player reaching 1,000 career points.
The recognitions came during routine meeting business and were recorded by the board with no formal motions required. The board adjourned after completing business and scheduled its next meeting for March 9, 2026.
