Perquimans County approves year-end budget amendments across funds

The Perquimans County Board of Commissioners approved a package of year-end budget amendments June 15 to close out FY2025-26. Finance Officer Tracy Mathews presented Budget Amendments Nos. 38–41, which reallocated revenues and appropriations in the General Fund and several enterprise and special funds.
Key General Fund items included increases tied to ROD fees and conveyance-tax receipts (ROD fees up $40,270 with $35,000 allocated to conveyance tax), a $100,000 addition to jail funding under Local Option Sales Tax, and a $30,000 increase in building permit revenue. The Water Fund amendments added $80,000 for water salaries and $30,000 for water-line repairs; the Solid Waste Fund amendment appropriated $40,000 from fund balance and increased expected landfill fee revenue by $57,312. The court facilities fund received an additional $35,000 in fines/forfeitures to cover utilities and related expenses.
James W. Ward moved to approve the year-end amendments after Finance Officer Mathews' presentation; Timothy J. Corprew seconded and the board voted unanimously to adopt the amendments.
