Airport Manager Bill Calderwood provided a multi-point operations and capital improvement update at the Feb. 3 meeting. Items included lease and rental reviews (Hangar 1), a PAPI lighting scope of work reviewed with engineer Lochner, an updated contact email on the county website, and a budget meeting with the Finance Director. Calderwood noted an annual FAA meeting with Lochner occurred Jan. 20, 2025 and stated May 4, 2026 is the final day to amend airport capital improvement projects (ACIP) for the current cycle.
Calderwood told the board the FAA runway inspection is scheduled for May 2026 and NDOT inspection is planned for 2028. The board discussed locating helicopter pads as a 2027 capital improvement and noted the south end as a preferred location if power can be provided in winter; Calderwood will consult Lochner on location and power needs. The board also agreed the FAA 5010 Master Record and Airport Layout Plan (both created in 2015) should be reviewed and updated to reflect a vault restroom and a larger terminal apron. Delivery of snow removal equipment is probable in May.
