Counselor Steffani Thompson introduced a group presentation by White Pine High School students on a proposed airport-entry sign. Kaydance Perkins presented the design concept: use existing uprights, raise the sign for visibility, place the airport name in the crossover, add a silhouette in the center opening, and illuminate the sign using blue and white lighting and solar fixtures to reduce maintenance. The students suggested engraving the airports establishment date on a rock at the base and adding steps for depth. A more fine-tuned design will be returned to the board at the March meeting.
Art teacher Janet Ingalls framed the presentation as a class project delivered as a single group entry. The board discussed lighting types and placement and asked for a refined rendering for the March meeting so the board can assess costs and durability.
